Whew! I’m still here, believe it or not. Truth is, I’ve been swamped with “real world” writing for nearly two months now, and free time for recreational writing has been low. But I’m trying to fix that, so here I am. I also need to delete the spam my comments section got railed with. Do people really think that form of advertising works?

I missed all of the E3 commentary. That’s not to say that I didn’t pay attention. After the show, I think my next system of choice will be a Playstation 4. Some things simply don’t sit well with me after Microsoft’s show, even with the 180 they did after being blasted by every gaming publication and critic for their “It’s our way or up yours” attitude. It’s a little frustrating as I’ve really enjoyed the quality of games on the 360. I just can’t support them this time, especially with Microsoft being so buddy-buddy with the NSA, which I don’t agree with, nor do I agree with the “always on” Kinect that swears that it’s only listening for you to say “Kinect On”.

But it’s still listening to hear you say that phrase….

Sony also made this point rather well:

And the game lineup isn’t that “must have” over a PS4. Sure there’s Killer Instinct, but the fact that Rare isn’t doing anything with it reminds me of the hollow shell that has become Rare, and how extremely creative and fun company once used to be. Now they just make Avatar fare, and Kinect games. I still don’t think gaming is ready for motion control. The last gen made steps, but it’s still not immersive enough to be a viable alternative to play.

Candidly, I am all about Kingdom Hearts 3. I hope Square-Enix can pull it off.

Nintendo is making Super Mario 3D World, which seeing Mario, Luigi, Toad, and Princess Peach all together again certainly hits my Super Mario Bros. 2 nostalgia receptors, as Nintendo remains excellent at farming nostalgia. The next Donkey Kong Country looks nice, and Super Smash Bros has the usual appeal, though I do not like the way that they are trickling out information this time, especially after how Brawl was handled. I miss the daily updates, no matter how trivial. I’ll probably get a Wii U down the line, but I’m not frothing at the mouth over it.

As for me, I have been playing some games, mostly Minecraft and State of Decay.

While I didn’t go to Comic Con, I did order this online:

Isn’t it awesome? Considering how awful the game was, that is. It even glows in the dark!

And I finally got a 3DS XL (blue), which yes, it was worth the wait, considering how sizable the screen is.

I’m also considering a gaming related web series, but I need to sit down and really decide what I want it to be about. I don’t want to halfway do it and be just another gamer ranting about video games on YouTube. I want to do something a little interesting, entertaining, and informative.

So I have a handful of articles in the back of my mind that I want to update, so I’ll be working on that this week. This has been a weird year, hasn’t it?

No to go clean out those spammers. Like barnacles on a ship, they are.
